Where Is Best to See the Northern Lights?

ayushisingh2393

The northern lights are one of the world's most beautiful natural sights to behold, generally making people's lists of top 100 things to do before you die. It is essential to understand before going to see them that planning is vital and knowing what to do is much better than simply expecting a magical light show to show up. Here are four of the greatest places in the world to get a wonderful view of the aurora borealis.

Norway

The northern lights are most noticeable under the auroral oval which often encircles the Earth between 60° and 70° latitude. Even though it frequently shifts, it doesn't move by a lot and this is what makes Norway an excellent location to capture greater than a peek at the spectacular lights. A Norwegian ferry cruise is good for experiencing the aurora for a lot of factors: first, you must only travel from the cabin to the deck to view the lights, and secondly, the reflective Norwegian waters offer an extraordinarily wonderful perspective.

Sweden

Abisko National Park is known as an exceptionally lovely place in which to observe an aurora borealis, as well as Aurora Sky Station on Mount Nuolja is purpose-designed for your viewing pleasure. Going to Swedish Lapland between November and March is most wise since the skies tend to be their darkest then, offering the perfect backdrop for an impressive lights display. It must be noted that this area of Northern Sweden is one of the most reliable for northern lights viewings, an excellent spot for those who are taking their first trip to see the lights.

Finland

Finnish Lapland especially is perfect for an action-packed, snowy vacation along with seeing an amazing lights display. Ride on a husky sled, meet the reindeer or have a look at Father Christmas, most excellent winter activities. Between November and January, this region of Finland possesses a surreal environment of eternal dusk as the sun does not rise above the horizon. Certainly, this also would make for amazing aurora watching opportunities once the sky is clear. Check out Glass Igloo Finland
